Case StudiesUGV Case Study: Cisco Systems
Cisco has long been at the forefront of networking, both through their hardware and by connecting people through new mediums. It may be an obvious statement to some, but Cisco’s efforts in software from unified communications to mobility are often unknown to the general public due to their reputation as a global leader in routing, switching, and hardware-driven information technology. If you’ve watched CNN at all lately, you’ve noticed quite a few Cisco advertisements that focus more on how their software (and hardware) can enhance the day to day life of the average person, be it through their TelePresence line of live conferencing solutions or WebEx’s group collaboration offerings. “Welcome to the Human Network” is an appropriate tagline that reflects where the company is going: promoting innovative ways of communicating, collaborating, and sharing media (and sell the hardware to support all of it). That’s a concept we understand very well.
Last year, we opened a dialogue with Cisco about how we could interface some of our products with their corporate website in order to help better engage the site’s visitors. Starting in January, we began developing and implementing a custom commenting solution for placement on their product pages, fusing a standard text input/output with our UGV components. This allowed for questions from prospective customers and answers from product managers – in either video or text.
